Getting Started

New Player Starter Guide

Difficulty: Beginner Last Updated: July 2026

Required programs, account registration, first launch tips, common fixes, and Discord support.

Welcome to Serein MMO. This starter guide helps new players prepare their PC, create an account, launch the game correctly, and solve common issues before asking for support.

The full game download information is available on the Downloads page. Download and extract the full client first, then return to this guide if you need help with required programs or launch issues.
Required Programs

Install the required programs below before launching the game. Missing runtimes can cause the launcher or client to fail, crash, or show missing DLL errors.

Required
DirectX End-User Runtime

Required for legacy DirectX 9 game files and common errors such as missing d3dx9_43.dll.

Download DirectX
Required
Visual C++ Redistributable x64

Required by many Windows game clients and tools. Install this on 64-bit Windows.

Download VC++ x64
Required
Visual C++ Redistributable x86

Recommended even on 64-bit Windows because some game components may still require 32-bit runtime files.

Download VC++ x86
Launcher / Tools
.NET Desktop Runtime 6.0

Required if the launcher, options tool, or other Serein MMO tools do not open correctly.

Download .NET Desktop Runtime
After installing the required programs, restart your PC before launching the game again.
Account Registration and In-Game Account Creation

Serein MMO uses two account steps: first you register your website account, then you create your actual in-game account from your Profile page.

  1. Register your web account from the Serein MMO website.
  2. Log in using the same credentials you used during sign-up.
  3. Open your Profile page.
  4. Press In-Game Accounts.
  5. Press Create New In-Game Account.
  6. Use the new in-game account credentials when logging into the game client.
Direct profile link: https://sereinmmo.com/profile
  • Use a real email address in case verification or support is needed.
  • Do not share your web account or in-game account information with anyone.
  • Use a strong password that you do not use on other websites.
First Launch Checklist
  • Extract the client fully before opening the launcher.
  • Do not run the game directly from inside a compressed ZIP or RAR file.
  • Run the launcher and let the patcher finish completely.
  • If the launcher does not open, right-click it and choose Run as administrator.
  • If your antivirus blocks or removes files, add the Serein MMO folder to your antivirus exclusion list.
Launching Without the Launcher Shortcut

After your client is fully patched, you can create a shortcut that opens SereinMMO.exe directly without depending on the launcher. This is useful if you need to open the client manually.

Use the launcher whenever you need to patch or update the game. This shortcut only opens the client directly and does not replace game updates.
  1. Open your Serein MMO client folder.
  2. Find SereinMMO.exe.
  3. Right-click SereinMMO.exe.
  4. Click Create shortcut.
  5. A new file should appear named something like SereinMMO.exe - Shortcut.
  6. Right-click the new shortcut and click Properties.
  7. In the Shortcut tab, find the Target field.
  8. Go to the end of the Target field, add one space, then write multiclientpls.
  9. Click Apply, then click OK.
  10. Use this shortcut when you want to open the client directly.
Example Target field:
"C:\Users\USER\Desktop\Serein MMO\Serein Client\SereinMMO.exe" multiclientpls
Important: Keep the quotation marks around the file path if Windows already added them. The word multiclientpls must be outside the quotation marks, after one space.

Leveling Guide

Difficulty: Beginner Last Updated: July 2026

Leveling route, Monster Album progression, gear milestones, party gap rules, and experience boosts.

Welcome to the Serein MMO Leveling Guide. This guide explains the recommended leveling path from Level 1 to the current maximum level, including where to level, when to upgrade your gear, how to use the Monster Album system, and which experience boosts can help you progress faster.

Current maximum level: 121.
Important Leveling Information
  • Having a low-level leech character follow you will no longer give bonus experience.
  • Leeching is not required for efficient leveling.
  • Players may still level up two characters together by using Party Mode [Level].
  • Party level gap restrictions begin when there is a 19 level difference or higher between party members.
Monster Album System

The Monster Album system is an important part of leveling and long-term character progression. While leveling, monsters may drop Monster Album Pieces. These pieces can be used to unlock monsters in the Monster Album system.

Unlocking Monster Album entries can grant:

  • Permanent stat bonuses
  • Useful item rewards
  • Better long-term progression for your character
Open the Monster Album from Menu → Systems → Monster Album Shortcut. Enable the [Auto Use] checkbox so supported Monster Album Pieces are used automatically when they drop.
Gear Progression

Using proper gear while leveling will make your progression much smoother. It is recommended to update your equipment at the following level milestones:

Lv. 15 Lv. 30 Lv. 45 Lv. 60 Lv. 75 Lv. 90 Lv. 105

Updated gear increases your attack and defense, which helps you kill monsters faster and survive more easily. If your desired weapon or armor does not drop directly, monsters can also drop Weapon Pieces and Armor Pieces. These pieces can be used to craft your desired equipment.

Open the Crafting System by pressing F, or from Menu → Systems → Crafting Shortcut.
Recommended Leveling Path

Follow the route cards below in order. Each route shows the recommended area, level range, and monster order. Try to unlock Monster Album entries as you progress instead of leaving them all for later.

Leveling Tips
  • Keep your gear updated at the recommended level milestones.
  • Use the Monster Album system while leveling instead of ignoring it until later.
  • Enable [Auto Use] in the Monster Album system to save time.
  • Use experience scrolls when you plan to level for a longer session.
  • Use Amplification Q and Amplification P together when possible.
  • If your damage feels too low, check your weapon first.
  • If monsters are dealing too much damage, upgrade your armor or move to a slightly lower-level monster.
  • Use Azria from Level 73 onward if you have an Azria Ticket.
Summary
  1. Follow the recommended monster path.
  2. Unlock Monster Album entries as you progress.
  3. Obtain the gear dropped from monsters at Level 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, and 105.
  4. Use the Crafting System if your desired gear does not drop.

Gear Score Guide

Difficulty: Beginner Last Updated: July 2026

How Gear Score works, where to see it, which items count, and how to calculate your estimated total.

Gear Score is a progression value based on the equipment your character is wearing. It helps players understand the overall strength of their gear and is also used as an entry requirement for dungeon access.

Your total Gear Score can be seen in the Inventory, under the character display. Items that provide Gear Score also show it directly in their item tooltip.
How Gear Score Appears in Tooltips

Gear Score items show their base value and bonus value separately. The base value comes from the item itself, while the bonus value comes from upgrades and piercing.

Gear Score: 80 + (+25) 80 is the base Gear Score. +25 comes from upgrades and piercing.
Why Gear Score Matters
Dungeon Entry

Gear Score is required to unlock access to certain dungeon entries. Higher-level or harder dungeons may require a higher total Gear Score.

Gear Progression

Gear Score gives players a quick way to judge if their current equipment is strong enough for the next stage of progression.

Teleporter Check

Players can check the minimum Gear Score required to enter a dungeon through the Teleporter system [V].

Equipment That Gives Gear Score

Gear Score is calculated from specific equipment slots only.

⚔️WeaponsBase Gear Score, upgrades, and piercing count.
🛡️ShieldsBase Gear Score, armor-style upgrades, and piercing count.
👕ArmorHelmet, Suit, Gauntlet, and Boots count.
💍JewelsNecklace, Earrings, and Rings count.
Off-hand weapons are special: off-hand weapons do not give base Gear Score and do not gain Gear Score from upgrades. Only their piercing slots give Gear Score.
Gear Score Formula

Every Gear Score item has a base Gear Score value set on the item. The final value is calculated by adding the base Gear Score, upgrade bonus, and piercing bonus together.

Total Gear Score = Base Gear Score + Upgrade Bonus + Piercing Bonus
Weapon Upgrades

+1.0 Gear Score per upgrade level.

Example: Weapon +20 = +20 Gear Score.
Armor / Shield Upgrades

+0.2 Gear Score per upgrade level.

Example: Shield +10 = +2 Gear Score.
Jewelry Upgrades

+0.1 Gear Score per upgrade level.

Example: Ring +20 = +2 Gear Score.
Piercing

Suit: +1.0 per pierce slot, up to 4 slots. Weapons and Shields: +0.5 per pierce slot.

Only opened pierce slots are counted. Off-hand weapons count piercing only.
Interactive Gear Score Calculator

Use this calculator to estimate your total Gear Score. Enter the base Gear Score shown in your item tooltip, then select the upgrade level and pierce slots where applicable.

How To Improve Gear Score

  • Upgrade your main weapon because weapon upgrades give the highest upgrade bonus.
  • Upgrade armor and shields for steady Gear Score gains.
  • Upgrade jewelry after your main weapon and armor are stable.
  • Open pierce slots on your suit, weapons, shields, and off-hand weapon when available. Suit piercing can add up to +4 Gear Score.
  • Use the Teleporter system [V] to check the minimum Gear Score needed for dungeon entry.
